Places You Will Visit in Our Holyland Tours
St. Peter’s Church was built during the Ottoman Empire rule, back in 1894. It is located on Tel Aviv’s scenic Jaffa seashore. This is basically a medieval citadel that was erected by Drederick I all the way back in 1664, before Louis IX of France renovated it a few centuries ago. The most recent renovation was performed in 1903, making the structure completely safe to visit now.
Going north, you can visit Mount Tabor, which allows you a magnificent view over the Lower Galilee. It was at this very site that Jesus underwent his transfiguration and gained his famous radiance. You will also find the Church of Transfiguration when you reach the top of the 575 meter-tall mountain. This place has a beautiful mosaic that depicts the aforementioned metamorphosis.
Nazareth’s Basilica of Annunciation was built in 1969. There are many churches that have been re-erected in this area. A few kilometers away from Nazareth is Kfar Kana, famed for the site of the New Testament miracle performed by Jesus when he turned water to wine. Visitors can now visit the Franciscan Wedding Church and the Greek Orthodox church of the Marriage feast.
Bethlehem is another city that attracts Christians from around the world. This historic city has outlived the Ottomans, Romans, and the British. It flourishes today due to its own unique identity. The Church of the Nativity is a must visit place. Christmas is celebrated thrice in Bethlehem – 25th December (Roman Catholic), 6th January (Coptic), and 19th January (Armenian Orthodox).
